HilltopSecurities and Associates Raise $70K for Children’s Health for Third Year-in-a-Row; Donate $200K+ to Organization Since 2016

DALLAS, April 30, 2018 – Hilltop Securities Inc. (HTS) today announced that, for the third consecutive year, the firm and its associates raised $70,000 for the 2018 Alliance Data Red Balloon Run & Ride (RBRR), benefitting Children’s Health.

Following the 2016 merger of Southwest Securities and FirstSouthwest, HTS initiated a renewed fundraising and community-involvement effort. Since then, the firm has donated a cumulative $210,000 to Children’s Health, a Dallas-based pediatric health care provider, through the RBRR fundraising event. The amount includes $150,000 in employee-raised donations and $60,000 in sponsorship donations on behalf of the firm.

“The Red Balloon Run & Ride was cancelled due to Dallas’ heavy storms, but that didn’t damper the enthusiasm of our firm and its employees,” said Robert W. Peterson, president and chief operating officer of HilltopSecurities and member of the board of directors for Children’s Medical Center Dallas. “Our cumulative total here is what we’re really excited about. It says a lot about how our employees exemplify the core values of our firm. Every year, they come together to support a variety of great causes and make HilltopSecurities shine bright in the communities we serve.”

This year, HTS created a committee to coordinate its nation-wide campaign for Children’s. Executive Assistants Joy Alexander and Rosie Mendoza, Corporate Events Manager Candace Emerson and Vice President Carol Garza organized the effort. The campaign encompassed a wide range of internal fundraisers, including:

  • Friday jeans days
  • A branch office fundraising competition
  • A floor vs. floor competition at the firm’s Dallas headquarters
  • A series of employee-led contests and sales
  • A collaborative purchasing program with a local Chick-fil-A (the location contributed 15 percent of its breakfast and lunch sales for one day to the firm’s campaign)

The Alliance Data Red Balloon Run and Ride is an annual fundraising event that takes place at Children’s Health’s campus in Plano, Texas. The event features a 1k and 5k run/walk as well as 5k and 23-, 26-, 27- and 72-mile bike rallies. The event also features a Team Tent Zone, which HilltopSecurities has sponsored since 2016.

The event is coordinated by Passion for Children’s, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2007 for the sole purpose for creating, implementing and supporting grassroots fundraising programs to exclusively benefit Children’s Health.
