Congress Bickers as Midnight Shutdown Looms

At midnight tonight, if lawmakers are unable to pass a short-term spending bill, the federal government will shut down. Fortunately, neither side is interested in this happening, so any federal government closure would likely be brief. While the sticking points on a continuing funding resolution appear to be minor, negotiations over the next round of government stimulus are muddled. The two sides seem to have agreed on a dollar amount of around $900 billion, but can’t see eye-to-eye on protecting businesses from virus-related lawsuits.
