The Economic Runway Clears
Yesterday afternoon, the House of Representatives approved a $1.4 trillion dollar spending package that will fund the federal government through 2020. As was the case last year, funding for President Trump’s border wall was a heated debate topic. Ultimately, Democrats agreed to maintain the current $1.37 billion dollar wall funding, while authorizing the President to continue the practice of transferring funds from Pentagon coffers to supplement construction. The deal also includes a $22 billion increase in military spending, and pay raises for military and civilian federal workers. The bill will now head to the Senate for expected approval before being signed by Trump.
