A (Possible) Step Closer in COVID-19 Negotiation, COS Meadows on "Meet the Press"

House Democrats proposed and passed the $3.5 trillion HEROES Act earlier in the summer as a framework for another phase of COVID-19 relief, with part of this including almost $1 trillion in aid for state and local governments. While the Democrats have said they would come down to a total funding level near $2.2 trillion, this “ask” still remains much higher than the $1 trillion Congressional Republicans have been willing to consider. Negotiations about a fifth phase of relief seemed to have broken down since the first week of August, however there has been some momentum on the topic in recent days.
