HilltopSecurities Donates $75,000 to Texas Public Schools

DALLAS, January 10, 2022 – Dallas-based Hilltop Securities Inc. (HilltopSecurities) recently celebrated its 75th anniversary by donating $75,000 to support Texas public schools. In fall 2021, the firm held “The Hilltop Hunt,” an online treasure hunt providing Texas public school educators the opportunity to win donations of $7,500 for their districts’ education foundations, along with prizes for their classrooms.

The Hilltop Hunt was available to all Texas public school educators teaching grades K-8. Participating teachers and their classrooms were able to enter the final prize drawings by solving 10 riddles about the state of Texas, history, public education, and HilltopSecurities.

“Texas educators play a fundamental part in preparing tomorrow’s leaders and equipping young people for success,” said HilltopSecurities President and CEO Brad Winges. “We are proud to support teachers and the students and communities they serve across the Lone Star State.”

HilltopSecurities honored 10 Gold Prize winners with a $7,500 donation to their school district’s education foundation and a pizza party for their classroom, while 10 Silver Prize winners were awarded a pizza party for their homeroom class.

Gold Prize Winners

Denton ISD: Brandi Caldwell, Genevieve Hart

HilltopSecurities’ buffalo mascot, “Mo”, and Executive Managing Director, Co-Head of Public Finance David Medanich presented Gold Prize winner Brandi Caldwell with a $7,500 check for the Denton Public School Foundation. Caldwell is a second grade teacher at W.S. Ryan Elementary.

Gold Prize winner Genevieve Hart, a fifth grade teacher at Savannah Elementary, and her students accepted a check of $7,500 for the Denton Public School Foundation.

Kerrville ISD: Gena Carpenter

Mo presented Tally Elementary Principal Gena Carpenter with a $7,500 check for the Kerrville Public School Foundation on Dec. 10, 2021.

Highland Park ISD: Allison Whitmeyer

Mo and Executive Managing Director and Head of Wealth Management John Muschalek presented Highland Park Middle School’s Allison Whitmeyer with a check for the Highland Park Education Foundation.

Corpus Christi ISD: Lydia Castillo, Candice Hallmark

Gold Prize winner Candice Hallmark and cheerleaders of Cunningham Middle School at South Park accepted a donation for the Corpus Christi Education Foundation.

HilltopSecurities Chief Operating Officer David Holleran presented Tom Browne Middle School’s Lydia Castillo with a check for the Corpus Christi Education Foundation.

Frenship ISD: Krista Duffield

On Dec. 3, 2021, Heritage Middle School art teacher Krista Duffield received a $7,500 donation for the Frenship Foundation for Leadership. The check was presented by HilltopSecurities Head of Human Resources Melinda Fleming.

Boerne ISD: Keke Powell

HilltopSecurities surprised Keke Powell’s second grade Kendall Elementary students with a $7,500 donation to the Boerne Education Foundation and a gift certificate for a homeroom pizza party.

Celeste ISD: Staci Beadles

HilltopSecurities General Counsel Brian Wittneben presented a check to Celeste Junior High’s principal Staci Beadles, staff, and student council officers for the Celeste Junior High Student Activity. The entire student body participated in solving riddles for The Hilltop Hunt during daily morning announcements.

Pflugerville ISD: Valerie Starnes

HilltopSecurities’ Chief Administrative Officer Clare Graca and Mo presented Gold Prize winner Valerie Starnes of Mott Elementary and her students with a donation to the Pflugerville Education Foundation.
